Help & bug reports
ToolBox3D Support
Answers to common questions, what works in the editor today, and how to write a bug report that gets a problem fixed quickly.
Report a bug
A good report lets the problem be reproduced on the first try. Before you write it up, reload the page and check that the problem happens again.
What to include
- What you were doing, step by step, starting from opening the editor.
- What you expected to happen, and what happened instead.
- Your browser and its version, your operating system and your graphics card.
- Whether your browser uses WebGPU: in Chrome or Edge, open
chrome://gpu(oredge://gpu) and look for WebGPU under Graphics Feature Status. - Any red error lines from the browser console — press F12 and open the Console tab.
- A screenshot or a short screen recording if the problem is visual.
Where to send it: bug reports from inside the editor (the bug icon in the top bar) and a contact form are being built. They are not available yet — this page will say so as soon as they are.
What works today
ToolBox3D is in early development. The editor workspace is live; the tools inside it are being built.
Available
- Open the editor in your browser at toolbox3d.app/editor — no install, no account.
- Switch between the Previewer, Model, Control Rig, Animation and Texture Paint workspaces.
- Preferences: interface scale for panels and viewport (75–125%), and the Warm Copper or Noir theme, remembered between visits.
- Resize or collapse the channel box dock, and start over with File › New Scene.
Not available yet
- Viewport rendering and camera navigation.
- Opening, importing, exporting and saving files.
- Modeling, rigging, animation and painting tools — they appear greyed out, with the reason in their tooltip.
- Undo and redo of edits, scripting, and the Windows application.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is ToolBox3D really free?
Yes. ToolBox3D is free to use, with no account, no trial and no watermark. There are no donations, subscriptions or ads today.
Why are most tools greyed out?
ToolBox3D is in early development. Tools that are not built yet are shown disabled, and hovering one tells you why. Nothing in the editor pretends to work before it does.
Why is the viewport empty?
Viewport rendering is being built now. Until it lands, the viewport shows an empty canvas.
Can I open or save files?
Not yet. Opening, importing and saving files are being built. File › New Scene clears the current scene.
The editor shows a blank screen or will not start. What can I do?
ToolBox3D needs WebGPU or WebGL 2. Update your browser and graphics drivers, make sure hardware acceleration is turned on in your browser settings, then reload the page. If it still fails, note any errors in the browser console and follow the bug report checklist on this page.
Does ToolBox3D collect my data?
No. There are no accounts, analytics or ads today. The editor stores your interface preferences (such as theme, interface scale and panel sizes) in your browser's local storage, and nothing you make is uploaded. See the Privacy Policy.
Will there be a Windows app?
Yes. A native Windows application built from the same Rust code is planned. It is not available yet.
How do I report a bug?
Follow the bug report checklist on this page. Bug reports from inside the editor and a contact form are being built; until they are available there is no channel to send a report through.
